Second-half surge pushes Knights past Wolverines

Apple Valley pulled away in the third quarter to defeat Polk County Middle 51-16 in Monday’s Blue Ridge Conference boys basketball game.

The Knights (6-2) outscored the Wolverines 22-6 in the third quarter to break open a 16-7 halftime lead. Apple Valley’s Emory Blanton scored all 10 of his points in the third period.

Carter Cash led Polk County Middle (0-8) with eight points. Owen Justice and Matthew Sokil each added three, and Austin Love finished with two.

Polk County Middle hosts Lake Lure Classical Academy on Thursday in its final game before the holiday break.
