Rockets fire to early lead, down Wolverines

A.C. Reynolds jumped out to 23-11 lead at the end of the first period Wednesday and went on to take a 68-55 win over Polk County in non-conference action in Asheville.

The Wolverines (3-10) fought back and trailed by six, 39-33, at the half, only to see the Rockets (8-5) allow just seven third-quarter points. Reynolds held a 52-40 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Jamal Wheeler and Wes Mullis each scored 13 points to lead Polk, which also got nine points from Jaymes Wingo, seven from Daniel Painter, six from Dillion Overholt, five from Davis Derkach and two from Holden Owens.

Polk County returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Landrum.
