Rugby spoiled Polk County Middle’s final regular-season game on Thursday, handing the Wolverines a 50-28 defeat at Polk Middle.

The Wolverines conclude the season with a 5-7 record while Rugby moves into the Blue Ridge Conference postseason tournament with an 8-4 mark.

Polk grabbed an early 7-2 lead, but the Raiders tied the score at the end of the first period, then grabbed a 19-11 lead at the half.

Rugby broke open the game in the third quarter behind the outside shooting of Jackson Lyda, who had 10 points in the third period. Lyda finished with 15 points and three of Rugby’s six 3-pointers.

Antonio Simpson had 17 points to lead Polk Middle, with Keaundrae Green scoring four. Avery Harden and Avery Hensley each had three points.
