
A hot-shooting Apple Valley squad grabbed an early lead Wednesday and never relinquished it en route to a 37-26 victory over Polk County Middle in boys basketball action in Hendersonville.
The Wolverines dropped to 0-8. Apple Valley improved to 3-5.
How it happened: The Knights raced to a 22-9 halftime edge, then held Polk Middle to just two points in the third period to check any thoughts of a Wolverine comeback.
Hollis Williams did lead a late Polk rally to account for the final margin.
Scoring: Williams had 10 points to lead Polk Middle. Nate Fagan added five, with Ross Dow scoring four and Brennan Oates connecting for a 3-pointer for his three points.
Brody Wilkins and David Duffy each finished with two points for the Wolverines.
Next up: Polk Middle kicks off a three-game homestand on Monday, hosting Hendersonville Middle.
