Polk’s Carson scores 1,000th career point

Polk County senior Dominique Carson joined an elite club Friday, scoring the 1,000th point of his career at East Rutherford.

Carson reached the milestone during the fourth quarter of the Wolverines’ Mountain Foothills 7 matchup with the Cavaliers. East Rutherford claimed a 94-65 victory.

He is the fourth player in Polk County boys basketball history to reach 1,000 points, joining Carlo Wilkins, Josh Twitty and Jamal Tanner. Wilkins scored part of his total at Tryon High School.

Carson’s 1,000th point came in his 65th career game. He entered Friday’s contest averaging 22.6 points per game this season.

Carson had 18 points in Friday’s loss.
