Macon County Middle handed Polk County Middle a 45-23 setback Tuesday in Blue Ridge Conference boys basketball action in Franklin.
In dropping their season opener, the Wolverines were led by Dominique Carson with 12 points. Chan Barber added six points, with Steven Chupp scoring five and Kanye Staley adding a point.
In girls action, Polk Middle dropped a 41-17 decision to Macon Middle.

Olivia Overholt scored nine points and Tori Thompson added eight for the Wolverines.
Both Polk County teams will make their home debut on Thursday, hosting Brevard Middle in games beginning at 4:30 p.m.
