Polk County Middle School’s boys basketball squad will resume its quest Friday for an undefeated season and Blue Ridge Middle School Conference championship, hosting Macon Middle School in a Blue Ridge tournament semifinal game.
The 4:30 p.m. matchup features a Macon Middle squad that enters with a 10-3 record and placed second in the Blue Ridge Western division. Macon lost twice this season to Western champ Waynesville and once to Canton.
Polk County Middle improved to 13-0 on Monday with a 66-38 win over Madison Middle. Head coach Billy Alm said late last week that he feels the Wolverines are peaking at the right time, but knows a tough road remains before the school can claim its second Blue Ridge conference crown in three seasons.

“We will take it one game at a time and continue to work hard,” Alm said. “The working hard part will be easy, because that’s all my boys know how to do.”
