Polk County's Carmello Young takes aim at the basket in a game earlier this season

Brevard kept Polk County’s offense in check Tuesday, holding the Wolverines to a season-low point total in a 42-20 junior varsity boys basketball victory at Polk.

Polk County dropped to 3-10 with the loss. Brevard improved to 11-3.

How it happened: The Wolverines were held to just 10 points in each half as Brevard’s defense stymied Polk.

The Blue Devils built a 32-10 lead at halftime, and that margin proved equal to the final result as the teams did play evenly in the final two quarters.

Scoring: Jonathan Collier led Polk with seven points, with Chase Stansbury scoring five and Cooper Rhodes adding three.

Khalil Austin and Nolan Simpson each scored two points while Lorenzo Sanchez added one.

Next up: Polk County travels Thursday to Chase to complete the first half of its Mountain Foothills 7 Conference schedule.
