Polk County’s Mark Teague

Avery built a 22-8 halftime lead Friday and went on to post a 37-26 win over Polk County in the Western Highlands Conference opener for both teams.

The Wolverines dropped to 3-8, 0-1 with the loss.

The Vikings extended the advantage to 31-13 entering the fourth quarter, when Polk rallied to account for the final margin.

Kanye Staley had 11 points, five steals and six rebounds to lead Polk, with Kris Littlejohn scoring six points with five rebounds.

Mark Teague had four points, with Vincent Twitty scoring three points with four steals. William Simpson added two points and five rebounds for the Wolverines.
