Polk home basketball opener with Pinnacle Classical rescheduled

Polk County’s scheduled home basketball opener with Pinnacle Classical Academy on Nov. 26 has been moved to Pinnacle and will now only include a varsity boys game.

Pinnacle doesn’t field any junior varsity teams, and its varsity girls squad will not be available to play on Nov. 26, school officials said. Polk County agreed to play just the varsity boys and travel to Pinnacle for the game.

The planned Dec. 19 game at Pinnacle has been canceled. Officials from both schools are working on possibly rescheduling that date for another time in the season.

With the change, the first game for Polk County’s varsity girls will be Dec. 3 at Piedmont Community Charter. The home opener for the Wolverines will now be the Dec. 5 games with R-S Central.
