Polk County’s girls basketball squad opened a 15-3 lead at the end of the first period Wednesday night and went on to down North Henderson 46-33 in non-conference action at North.
Polk County built a 28-13 halftime margin in avenging a 53-47 loss to North Henderson in early December.
Hayley Kropp scored 17 points and had six steals and Sarah Phipps added 11 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and two blocks to lead the Wolverines, who improved to 7-5 with the win, their second straight. North Henderson dropped to 9-7 with the loss.

In boys play, North Henderson earned a 77-69 win over a shorthanded Polk County squad.
The Wolverines (4-8) played without starting guards Jamal Tanner (hand) and Jaron Bontrager (leg) as well as senior reserve Will Ballard.
Anthony Carson scored a season-high 27 points and Saquan Miller added 21 for Polk County, which suffered its sixth straight loss.
Polk County returns to Western Highlands Conference play on Friday, hosting Hendersonville.
