Polk County's Antonio SImpson had seven points in Wednesday's loss at Pisgah

Polk County suffered another close loss Wednesday, falling 72-66 at Pisgah in a non-conference boys basketball battle.

The Wolverines dropped to 0-3, with all three losses by six points or less. Pisgah improved to 3-0.

The Bears built a 39-27 halftime lead, but Polk County rallied and trimmed the deficit to five entering the final quarter. Pisgah checked the Wolverine rally, though, and held on for the win.

“It was a heck of an effort on both sides of the ball,” said Polk County head coach Daniel Bradley.

Gunnar Alm had 20 points to lead Polk County, with Wayne Carson scoring nine. Lawson Carter, Aaron Jackson and Antonio Simpson each had seven points for the Wolverines.

Damon Williams added six points, with Avrey Hensley and Avery Harden each scoring five.

Polk County will next be in action on Wednesday, traveling to Madison for another non-conference game.
