Patton spoiled Polk County’s Mountain Foothills 7 opener, handing the Wolverines a 55-40 defeat Friday in boys junior varsity basketball play at Polk.

The Wolverines dropped to 1-7, 0-1 with the loss. Patton improved to 5-3, 1-0.

How it happened: Patton opened the game with a 14-2 run to take command, and Polk County could never catch up. The Wolverines did hold their own the rest of the first half and went into the locker room down 27-14.

Patton scored the first five points of the third quarter for a 32-16 advantage, and the Wolverines drew no closer than 13 points the rest of the evening.

Scoring: Nolan Simpson had 16 points to pace Polk County, with Avery Hensley adding nine. Khristian Littlejohn and Karlen McEntyre each added five.

Cooper Rhodes and Chase Stansbury each finished with two points and Lorenzo Sanchez added one for Polk.

Next up: The Wolverines conclude their pre-holiday schedule on Tuesday with a trip to Hendersonville. Tipoff is set for approximately 5 p.m.
