Owen pulls away in second half to stop Polk County

Owen’s Asante Martin scored 33 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Warhorses to a 69-57 victory over Polk County in Friday’s Western Highlands Conference boys basketball opener.

The Warhorses (7-1, 1-0 WHC) built a 31-30 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines 38-27 over the final two quarters.

Aaron Jackson led Polk County (2-5, 0-1 WHC) with 21 points, including 15 in the second quarter. Khristian Littlejohn added 16 while Nate Fagan scored nine with three 3-pointers.

Nolan Simpson had four points, Ross Dow finished with three and Chase Stansbury and Brady Carroll each added two.
