Mountain Heritage clinched the Western Highlands Conference regular-season title Friday, downing Polk County 79-29 in boys basketball action at Polk.

The Cougars improved to 15-2 overall, 8-0 in WHC play in sealing the conference championship. Polk County dropped to 0-18, 0-7.

Mountain Heritage took command of the game from the outset, racing to a 29-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Cougars built a 50-12 halftime advantage and cruised through the second half.

Clark Phipps had 11 points to lead Polk County, with Mitchell Yoder adding five and Amir Gary scoring four.

Keyandre Thomas had three points while Zeke Hermann, Dominique Carson and Tyler Staley each scored two.

Polk County travels Tuesday to Madison for another WHC battle.
