
Landrum grabbed an early lead Friday and never relinquished it en route to a 53-36 victory over Polk County in junior varsity boys basketball action in Landrum.
The Cardinals improved to 2-1 with the win. Polk County dropped to 0-2.
How it happened: Landrum built a 26-16 halftime lead and kept the margin in double digits most of the third quarter.
Polk County rallied and pulled within nine, 38-29, on a Khalil Austin 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter. But the Cardinals pulled away down the stretch to claim the win.
Scoring: Avery Hensley scored 18 points to pace Polk County, with Khristian Littlejohn adding five points and Austin and Karlen McEntyre each scoring four.
Lorenzo Sanchez finished with three points, with Jonathan Collier adding two.
