The coaching staff and team members give our humble thanks to the administration for the support and approval they all have shown our program. The MVPs for this summer are our bus drivers. Thank you to Coach Miller and Coach Barber for going above and beyond for our kids.
I am also proud to be part of a community that not only sees our financial needs but also finds opportunities for our kids to earn the resources to attend these camps. The Hoops for Hire program was a tremendous success. Thank you to all of the individuals and businesses that called and hired the young men to work. Thank you to Advance Auto for letting us do our car washes at your place of business and thank you to the individuals who donated snacks for the two road trips we took and for the moral support of the parents, families and the entire community. Our kids bonded as a team, learned new skills and, most importantly, had fun.
As a staff we encourage these five goals for our team as as we close out our summer camps:
- Evaluate your effort, attitude and aggressiveness.
- Identify mental and technical areas that need improvement.
- Develop a plan to improve those areas.
- Identify things you did well.
- Forgive yourself for mistakes & move forward with confidence.
Basketball and life are supposed to be enjoyable. Don’t take them too seriously or you’ll never get out alive (thanks Dr. Seuss).
Basketball is important to all of us but at the end of the day it’s just a sport. Enjoy it, seize the day and have fun creating memories that will last a lifetime. Our kids did just that.
One Team, One Polk.
