Hot-shooting Raiders race to win at Polk Middle

Rugby Middle showed why Thursday the Raiders are in the hunt for a Blue Ridge Conference East Division title, handing Polk County Middle a 50-20 setback at Polk Middle.

The Raiders improved to 5-2, with losses only to undefeateds Macon Middle and Hendersonville Middle. Polk Middle dropped to 0-7.

How it happened: The Raiders raced to a 25-2 lead, with Duke Nitcher and Adrian Koo leading the way. Koo had nine points in the first period and Nitcher had eight.

The Raiders also hit three 3-pointers in the quarter as part of their sizzling start from the field.

Scoring: Nate Fagan had a pair of 3-pointers and led Polk Middle with eight points, with Dallas Littlejohn adding five and Gage Harden scoring four.

Luke Garrison had three points for the Wolverines.

Next up: Polk Middle will celebrate the holidays and return to action on January 5, traveling to Apple Valley.
