Polk County's Vincent Twitty had 11 points in Friday's loss

East Rutherford scored the game’s first 11 points Friday and steadily pulled away to hand Polk County a 95-64 setback in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference clash in Bostic.

The Cavaliers (5-10, 2-3) sizzled from the field early, roaring to a 29-12 lead by the end of the first period. East Rutherford’s early 11-0 burst included three 3-pointers.

East built a 53-27 lead at the half.

Dominique Carson scored 18 points to lead Polk County (6-6, 0-4), his final basket giving him 1,000 points for his career. He is the fourth boys player in school history to reach that milestone.

Vincent Twitty added 11 points, with Mackus Simpson and Kris Littlejohn each scoring nine. Landen Bradley added eight points, with Brandon West scoring five.

Riley Searcy finished with three points and Isaiah Spears added two for Polk, which is scheduled to travel Tuesday to Brevard for another conference matchup.
