Polk County Middle raced to a 17-2 lead at the end of the first quarter Monday and claimed a 45-25 victory at Bethel Middle in Blue Ridge Conference boys basketball action.
The Wolverines (3-4) shook off the rust from the holiday break in taking the win over the winless Blue Demons (0-7).
Antonio Simpson had six of his eight points and Lawson Carter had five of his seven to spark the Wolverines’ big opening quarter.
Avery Harden finished with 10 points to lead Polk Middle, with Wyatt Cooley scoring nine. Dayvion Stinson finished with four, with Gunnar Alm adding three and Banks Barber and Keaundrae Green each scoring two.
Polk Middle returns home Thursday to face Apple Valley.
