East Rutherford JVs rely on second-half surge to top Polk County

East Rutherford pulled away in the second half Friday to hand Polk County’s junior varsity a 58-42 defeat in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference basketball action at Polk.

The two teams battled to an 18-18 tie at halftime. But the Cavaliers raced to a nine-point lead by the end of the third period and built on that margin in the fourth period to claim the win.

Harris Windsor led Polk County (0-11) with 10 points. Luke Garrison added nine, with Kamron Cunningham and Tae Gary each scoring six.

Ross Dow had five points and Keyan Simpson and Nate Fagan each added three for the Wolverines, who will next be in action Tuesday, hosting Brevard.
