Chase held off a frantic Polk County comeback and a overcame a record-tying night from Dominique Carson to earn an 86-79 victory Friday in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference game in Forest City.
Carson finished with 31 points and seven 3-pointers, matching the school record shared by Larry Fagan and Matt McCallister.
Carson and Kris Littlejohn held fuel a rally in the final period by the Wolverines (6-11, 0-9), who trailed 42-24 at the half.
Chase (3-15, 2-6) still led 62-46 entering the final period, but Polk put together a 33-point outburst in the fourth quarter, with Carson scoring 16 points and Littlejohn scoring 10 as the Wolverines eventually trimmed the deficit to single digits.
Littlejohn finished with 21 points, with Mackus Simpson adding 13 points and four 3-pointers. Polk hit 12 treys in the game, just one short of the school record.
Vincent Twitty, Wayne Carson and Kanye Staley each added four points while Brandon West had two for Polk County, which hosts Chase on Monday. The Wolverines will celebrate Senior Night, with action beginning at 5:30 p.m.
