Brevard put together a second-half rally Friday and pulled away from Polk County, handing the Wolverines a 65-47 setback in a non-conference boys basketball meeting in Brevard.
The Blue Devils (3-2) trailed Polk 28-27 at halftime, but built a 46-39 lead by the end of the third period and steadily pulled away in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Jaymes Wingo led Polk County (0-3) with 14 points, followed by Amir Gary and Dillon Overholt each with nine. Holden Owens added six, Malik Miller and Jaylon Bontrager each had three, Rustin Muse scored two and Seth Hardin had one for the Wolverines.

BREVARD GIRLS WIN: Tristen Berry scored 22 points and Ashley McBee added 14 as Brevard rolled to a 69-28 win over Polk County in girls play.
The Blue Devils (3-2) raced to a 41-14 lead at halftime in dropping the Wolverines to 0-3.
Autumn Owen led Polk County with 10 points, with Mariah overholt adding six points and Ansley Lynch scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds. Ava Marino had three points, with Anna McFadden scoring two points with five rebounds and Willow Arkell adding two points.
All Polk County teams are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to East Henderson.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL SCORE: Brevard 55, Polk County 31
BREVARD MIDDLE SWEEPS POLK: In action on Thursday in Brevard, Brevard Middle’s boys and girls basketball teams each defeated Polk in Blue Ridge Middle School Conference action.
The Brevard girls earned a 24-20 win as Polk County (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season. Julia Griffin and Olivia Overholt each scored four points and Sara Muse and Kristen Hall each scored three for Polk.
In boys play, Brevard Middle earned a 41-37 victory in double overtime, dropping the Wolverines to 0-2 on the season.
Polk County Middle’s teams make their home debut on Monday, hosting Rugby Middle beginning at 4:30 p.m.
