Wolverines again second in conference golf play

A rainy finish pushed scores a bit higher Tuesday, but Polk County still emerged with a second-place showing in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference golf action at Cummings Cove in Hendersonville.

The Wolverines posted a team score of 349, finishing 15 shots behind Chase, which won its second straight conference match. Chase’s Justin Pinkerton fired a 77 to lead the Trojans.

Avery Harden paced Polk with an 81, followed by Reilly Yoder’s 86, Casey Beiler’s 90 and Evan Jones’ 92. Wolverine head coach Pat McCool said heavy showers fell during the final holes and made scores a bit higher than likely would have been the case.

Polk has now finished second in each of its two conference matches.

Myles Menetre added a 93 for the Wolverines, who are next scheduled to be in action on Monday, facing Madison in a dual match at Meadowbrook Golf Club.
