Wolverine golfers post best score of season in winning WHC match

As perhaps only he can, Polk County boys golf coach Pat McCool best summed up how well the Wolverines played Tuesday.

“316 is the best score that we have had in Polk County in a lot of years,” McCool said.

The Wolverines put together that team total in winning a Western Highlands Conference match at Mount Mitchell Golf Club, defeating Avery and Mitchell.

Mitchell finished with a team score of 338 and Avery had an aggregate finish of 353.

Polk County’s Avery Harden birdied the last two holes of his round to fire a 76 and earn medalist honors, with Carson Emory a stroke back at 77 and Evan Jones posting an 80.

Reilly Yoder had a season-best 83 to complete the team scoring for the Wolverines, with Braxton Edwards adding a 92.
