Wilkins leads Wolverines to fourth-place effort in Forest City

Polk County’s varsity boys golf team secured a fourth-place finish Thursday in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference action at Forest City Municipal Golf Course.

The match, originally scheduled for Connestee Falls in Brevard, was relocated due to fires in the area. East Rutherford dominated the par-72 layout, posting a team score of even-par 288 to claim first place. Hendersonville (304) and R-S Central (314) rounded out the top three, with Polk County following at 326.

Freshman Brody Wilkins led the Wolverines with a solid 77, a round highlighted by three birdies on the back nine. Sophomore Tourin Jackson continued his consistent play with a 78, while Myles Menetre (84) and Piercen Edwards (87) completed Polk’s team scoring. Gage Harden added a 92.

East Rutherford’s Jacob Holland earned medalist honors with a 2-under-par 70.

Brevard (334), Chase (337) and Patton (377) completed the team scoring for the day.
