Polk golfers take fourth in WHC debut

Tourin Jackson tied for third individually and Polk County finished fourth in Tuesday’s Western Highlands Conference golf match at Mountain Air Country Club.

Jackson shot a 37 on the par-35, nine-hole course to tie for third place with Madison’s Gavin Gault. Owen’s Carson Murphy was medalist with a 35, while Mitchell’s Eli Snyder finished second at 36.

Brody Wilkins followed up for Polk County with a 43, while Piercen Edwards shot 46, Tallis Metcalf finished with 51 and Gage Harden rounded out the day’s results with 53.

Mitchell won the team competition with 162, followed by Madison (168), Avery (170), Polk County (177), Hendersonville (180), Mountain Heritage (187) and Owen (188).

Polk County returns to action Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club, again facing Western Highlands Conference schools.
