
Polk golfers sizzle in winning MF7 match
Polk County’s boys golf team finally earned its breakthrough conference win.
The Wolverines have finished second to Chase in all but one Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match this season, tying the Trojans in that remaining tussle.
Thursday, though, belonged to Polk County as the Wolverines finished nine strokes better than Chase in an MF7 match at Meadowbrook Golf Club.
Polk County posted a team score of 312, topping the 321 of Chase. Wolverine Evan Jones fired the low score of the day, his 74 playing a key role in the win.
The Wolverines had two others break 80, with Reilly Yoder and Avery Harden each posting a 78. Casey Beiler added an 82 to round out the scoring for the team competition.
Also playing for Polk County were Logan Rhodes (109), Jaden Chupp (124), Graham Turner (132) and Daniel Savkovic (135).
Jones bested Chase’s Garrett Pinkerton by one shot, with Trojan Justin Pinkerton in third at 77. Yoder and Harden finished tied with Patton’s Brody Chamberlain for fourth.
Hendersonville had a team score of 351, followed by East Rutherford (351), Patton (381) and Brevard (404).
