
Jones leads Polk golfers in tri-match at Champion Hills
Polk County’s boys golf team opened its 2020 season Tuesday with a three-team match at Champion Hills in Hendersonville.
The Wolverines placed third in the match with West Henderson and Hendersonville. East Henderson also competed, but didn’t field a full team.
West Henderson fired a 166 to take top honors, led by Wyatt Hughes’ 37. Hendersonville had a 177 while Polk County carded a 185.
Freshman Evan Jones paced the Wolverines with a 42, with Carson Emory notching a 45 and Hunter Lynch recording a 48. Reilly Yoder rounding out the team scoring with a 50, with Cole Pereira also competing and recording a 66.
Polk County is slated to return to action on Thursday, hosting Hendersonville in a 4 p.m. match at Tryon Country Club.
