
Emory, Lynch earn All-WHC, regional berths at conference golf tourney
Polk County’s Carson Emory and Hunter Lynch earned all-Western Highlands Conference honors and a spot in the 1A West Regional with their finish Tuesday in the WHC golf tournament.
Emory finished fourth and Lynch finished sixth after the final round of the tourney at Mountain Glen Golf Course in Newland.

Emory closed with an 83 for a two-day total of 162, just four shots behind Mountain Heritage’s Josh King, who closed with an 85 for a three-shot win over Avery’s Carter Smith and Mitchell’s Austin McGuire.
Lynch had an 84 for a 165.
Polk County finished third in the team competition with 735 strokes. Mitchell captured the WHC title with a 674, just ahead of Avery’s 686. Mountain Heritage took fourth with a 763.
Max Zinn had a two-day total of 201 for Polk County, with Nick Wilson recording a 210 and Blake Rackley a 220. Trey Thompson also competed Tuesday and fired a 108.
The 1A West Regional is set for May 7 at The Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville.
