Young Polk Middle squad falls in season finale

Battling to the last out – that trait marked Polk County Middle’s baseball team from start to finish in the 2023 season.

The Wolverines closed their season Wednesday with a 9-3 loss to Hendersonville Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference matchup at Polk County Recreation Complex.

Polk Middle ended its season with a 1-11 record. But with a roster dominated by seventh graders, the Wolverines will return much of its lineup next season and could well be a factor in the Blue Ridge Conference race.
