Polk County Middle dropped a 10-5 decision to Apple Valley Middle in Blue Ridge Conference baseball action in Hendersonville.

The Wolverines (0-3) had their best offensive outing of the season and held an early 2-0 lead, taking advantage of two Knight errors and base hits by Matthew Jarrett and Jace Williams to push across both runs in the top of the first.

Apple Valley grabbed the lead with a five-run second inning, but the Wolverines rallied with two runs in the third, Jarrett and Gavin Waldbillig each reaching base and scoring.

The Knights, though, upped the lead to 6-4 in the third, then put together a four-run outburst in the fourth to seal the win.

“Our bats looked a lot better, but we can’t win games with five errors,” said Polk Middle head coach Alston Rikard.

Polk Middle is set to make its home debut on Wednesday, hosting Hendersonville Middle in a 4:30 p.m. start at Polk County Recreation Complex.
