Wolverines get solid all-around effort in rout of East Henderson

Polk County scored in every inning, got solid pitching and stellar defense Thursday in handing East Henderson a 13-1 five-inning loss in non-conference baseball action in Flat Rock.

The Wolverines racked up at least 10 hits for the third straight game in improving to 4-8 overall.

Leading the attack was senior J.D. Edwards, who finished 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Edwards finished the week 7-for-9 at the plate with three doubles.

Noah Howell was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI and Daniel Painter was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI.

Tyler Harris earned the win, allowing three hits in five innings and striking out three.

Polk County head coach Ty Stott called the team’s defensive effort its best of the season and noted the play of Howell at first, Bailey Livesay in left field and Sedrick Pickett at catcher.

The Wolverines return to Western Highlands Conference play on Tuesday, hosting Owen.
