East Rutherford’s undefeated season continued Tuesday as the Cavaliers blanked Polk County 6-0 in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference baseball action in Forest City.

The Cavaliers (21-0, 11-0) were led by pitcher Malachi Dato, who tossed a complete game three-hitter with nine strikeouts. East Rutherford’s Elliott Tisdale provided the offensive firepower with two home runs and four RBI.

Polk County (10-12, 4-7) struggled to generate offense despite a solid pitching performance from Nate Fagan, who went the distance allowing seven hits and six runs, though only two were earned.

The Wolverines’ best scoring opportunity came early when Mark Jarrett collected two of the team’s three hits. Avrey Hensley added a double for Polk’s only extra-base hit of the contest.

East Rutherford broke open a scoreless game with a Tisdale home run in the second inning before adding four more in the third, including Tisdale’s second homer, a three-run blast. The Cavaliers tacked on another run in the fifth to secure the victory.

The Wolverines will look to rebound Wednesday when they travel to Rosman for a non-conference matchup.
