State baseball coaches tap Alm as 3A Player of the Year

Polk County’s Gunnar Alm has been named the 2026 North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association 3A Player of the Year, the organization announced.

Alm also earned a spot on the NCBCA’s inaugural all-classification all-state team as an outfielder.

The Polk County outfielder helped lead the Wolverines to a 17-10 record, a Western Highlands Conference championship and a third-round finish in the 3A state playoffs this season.

Ayden-Grifton’s Slater Persinger was named the 3A Pitcher of the Year.
