R-S Central JVs fire no-hitter at Polk County

Three R-S Central pitchers combined for a no-hitter as the Hilltoppers defeated Polk County 11-0 in Wednesday’s junior varsity baseball season opener for both teams.

R-S Central scored three runs in the first inning and two in the second to take control, then added four in the fourth and two in the fifth to invoke the mercy rule.

The Hilltoppers’ pitching trio struck out 10 and walked three while holding the Wolverines without a hit.

Polk County is back in action Friday at Erwin.
