Polk County’s march in the state 3A championship will continue Tuesday as the Wolverines travel to Bostic to face East Rutherford in a third-round matchup.
The encounter is set to begin at 7 p.m. Third-round tickets are $12 per NCHSAA rules and can be purchased online or at the gate.
Polk County enters with a 17-9 record and coming off a 13-0 victory at Walkertown. The triumph marked the first time since 2010 that the Wolverines have won two playoff games, with Polk defeating Forbush and Smoky Mountain that year before dropping a 7-5 decision to Wilkes Central in the 2A West bracket.

East Rutherford (20-5) entered the postseason having won the state 2A title last season. The Cavaliers have looked poised to make a similar run this season, their slate including a 19-5 victory over Polk County in mid-April.
East Rutherford had a first-round playoff bye, then routed West Lincoln 18-1 on Friday.
Tuesday’s winner will move into Friday’s fourth round and will face either Surry Central or Pine Lake Prep.
