Polk County’s offense has been building all season. On Wednesday, it exploded.
The Wolverines scored 21 runs on 15 hits in a dominant performance against East Henderson, with Gunnar Alm leading the way by hitting two home runs and setting a school record with his 80th career RBI in a 21-10 victory.
It was Polk County’s highest-scoring game of the season, and the offense delivered throughout the lineup.

Alm finished 2-for-3 with five runs scored, five RBI, two home runs and a stolen base. His five RBI give him 80 for his career, surpassing the school record of 79 set by Holden Owens from 2014-2018. His five runs scored matched the school record set by Nick Capozzi.
Alm hit a solo home run in the first inning and added a grand slam in the fourth to help Polk County pull away.
But he wasn’t alone. Alex Perry went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI, including a double. Noah Harden finished 3-for-4 with three RBI, Nate Fagan was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double, Gavin Waldbillig went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Aaron Jackson had a triple and two RBI and Matt Jarrett finished 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.
The Wolverines jumped out to an 8-3 lead through two innings, but East Henderson’s James Osborne answered with a grand slam in the bottom of the second to pull the Eagles within 8-7.
Polk County scored a run in the third to extend the lead to 9-7, then put the game away with four runs in the fourth and eight more in the fifth.
Noah Harden earned the win, pitching three innings. Fagan pitched two innings of relief.
Osborne finished 2-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs for East Henderson.
The game was also the 200th for Billy Alm as Polk County’s head coach.
Polk County (12-6) travels to East Rutherford on Thursday for a non-conference game.
