Nate Fagan struck out 11 Hendersonville Middle batters in Monday's win

Polk County Middle put together a seven-run rally Monday, storming back to down Hendersonville Middle 9-6 in Blue Ridge Conference baseball action in Hendersonville.

The Wolverines (3-5) trailed 6-2 entering the top of the fifth. But Polk sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth to roar back and take a lead it would never lose.

“The boys dug deep and didn’t give up when they were down,” said Polk Middle head coach Alston Rikard. “I’m proud of their tenacity and how far we’ve come since the start of the season. It’s not easy to come off spring break and have a game right off the bat.”

Hendersonville built an early 3-0 lead, but the Wolverines scored two runs in the fourth inning to began their comeback.

Nate Fagan earned the win, pitching a complete game and striking out 11. Fagan also had three hits to lead the Polk attack at the plate.

Simms Harris and Drew Young each added two hits, with Matthew Jarrett also singling.

Polk Middle is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Flat Rock to face the Eagles at East Henderson High School.
