Polk Middle eliminated from Blue Ridge conference baseball tourney

Macon Middle School brought Polk County Middle’s baseball season to an end on Monday, scoring nine runs in the second inning en route to a 12-2 win in Franklin.

With the win, undefeated Macon eliminated the Wolverines from the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference tournament. Polk Middle wraps up its season with a 7-9 record that included wins in two of its final three games.

Polk Middle scored its two runs in the fourth inning. With two outs, Avery Edwards drew a walk and Brandon Ridings followed with a single. The runners advanced a base on a passed ball before Kyler Scruggs singled to drive in Edwards. Ridings then scored on Elijah Sutton’s base hit, but Scruggs was thrown out at home to end the inning.

Sutton had two hits to lead Polk Middle, which also got hits from Tyler Harris, Holden Owens, Ridings and Scruggs.
