Polk Middle erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning to defeat Flat Rock Middle 19-2 in Wednesday’s Blue Ridge Conference baseball game in Flat Rock.
The victory was the final regular-season game for the Wolverines (6-8), who will await their opponent in the Blue Ridge Conference Tournament.
Brantley Hall led Polk Middle’s offensive onslaught, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Callaway Cameron went 3-for-4 with two triples, five runs and three RBI.

Carter Wood finished 3-for-5 with two RBI while Oakley McDowell went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Joshua Odel added two doubles and an RBI, going 2-for-4, and Lawson Yoder was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Polk Middle scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Wood delivered an RBI single, McDowell added an RBI single and Wood scored on an error.
The Wolverines added a run in the third and two in the fourth before breaking the game open with five runs in the fifth. Cameron drove in two with a triple, and Wesley Turner and Yoder each scored on passed balls.
Polk Middle then exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning. Hall highlighted the rally with an inside-the-park home run that scored Jameson Clue. McDowell added a two-run triple in the frame.
Reece Turner earned the pitching victory, throwing five innings and allowing two runs (one earned) with eight strikeouts. Cameron pitched the sixth inning with three strikeouts.
