Aaden Denton started Tuesday's game, giving up four hits and no earned runs in an inning and a third of work

A seven-run third inning briefly gave Polk County’s junior varsity a lead Tuesday, but Patton rallied to take an 11-7 victory in baseball action in Morganton.

The Wolverines (0-5) trailed 5-0 after two innings before rallying in the third. Aaden Denton reached on an error and scored on Aaron Jackson’s triple, with an error on Nick Stribling’s grounder scoring Jackson. Jaxtyn Virgil and Mykah Hills drew walks to load the bases, and Stribling scored when Talon Ramsey was hit by a pitch.

A two-out error on Zalen McCraw’s grounder made it 5-4, and a walk to Denton evened the score. Ramsey scored on a wild pitch, and McCraw scored on an infield error to give Polk a 7-5 edge.

Patton’s six-run at-bat in the bottom of ther third, though, gave the Panthers the lead for good.

McCraw and Jackson had base hits for Polk County.

The Wolverines are scheduled to host Erwin on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
