Polk County senior Daniel Painter earned all-tournament honors at the 2015 Perfect Game 16U WWBA National Championship tournament, held July 10-17 in Emerson, Ga.

Painter pitched and played first base for Southern Athletics, who posted a 2-5 record in pool play against some of the nation’s top teams.

Painter pitched 10 innings at the tournament, earning a win over Kentucky-based KBC Blue. He allowed 10 hits and just one run, that unearned, while striking out nine batters. Painter finished his summer with Southern Athletics with a 5-0 record and an earned run average under 1.00.

“We have kids committed to SEC and ACC schools to pitch, but Daniel may be our toughest competitor on the mound,” said Craig Collins of Southern Athletics. “He competes every pitch and just wins. Once he gets on the velocity program this fall and hits a few critical numbers we expect him to follow our other guys to high level schools. Truly a pleasure to coach and just be around.”
