Owen’s Wallston checks Polk County JVs in 14-1 victory

Owen pitcher William Wallston struck out 12 batters over five innings and the Warhorses scored in every inning to defeat Polk County 14-1 in Tuesday’s junior varsity baseball Western Highlands Conference matchup in Swannanoa.

Owen scored six runs in the first inning and added a run in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth to pull away.

Polk County scored its only run in the first inning when Drew Young doubled and advanced to third on an error. Asher Mullet followed with an two-out RBI single to center field to score Nathan Carnegie, who was running for Young.

Young, Mullet, Brady Carroll and Oakley Whiteside each collected one hit for the Wolverines. Young doubled and Whiteside stole a base.

Polk County (0-4, 0-1 WHC) hosts North Henderson on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
