Macon Middle blanks Polk Middle in BRC first-round matchup

Polk County Middle School’s baseball season came to a close Wednesday in Franklin as the Wolverines fell to Macon Middle 10-0 in the first round of the Blue Ridge Conference Tournament.

The Panthers (10-1), BRC West Division champions, used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure the five-inning victory over Polk Middle (3-9).

Macon established control early, plating three runs in the first inning and adding two more in both the second and third frames. A three-run fourth inning sealed the outcome as the 10-run mercy rule took effect.

The Wolverines’ offense was limited to just two hits against Macon’s pitching staff. Callaway Cameron went 1-for-2 at the plate while Josh Jarrett finished 1-for-1 to account for Polk’s only offensive production.
