Noah Harden and Lawson Carter teamed on a four-hitter Monday as Polk County picked up a 4-0 non-conference victory at Chesnee.
The Wolverines (8-5) gained a key road win thanks in large part to the mound effort. Harden started and pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits and striking out two with two walks.
Carter delivered two hitless innings in relief, striking out two.

Polk County provided a good foundation for its pitching with a three-run rally in the top of the first. Mark Jarrett and Noah Harden each singled to open the inning, with Gunnar Alm following with a base hit to drive in both runners. Alm also took third on the play on an outfield error.
Karson Scruggs then continued his recent hot streak at the plate with a base hit to score Alm and give the Wolverines a 3-0 advantage.
Polk then added a run in the fourth as Carter reached on a leadoff single, took second on Alex Perry’s sacrifice bunt and scored on Cohen Edwards’s two-out single.
Alm finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, with Jarrett, Harden, Scruggs, Carter and Edwards each adding base hits.
Chesnee dropped to 4-10 with the loss.
Polk County is set to return to action on April 9, hosting Mountain Foothills 7 Conference co-leader R-S Central.
