Cohen Edwards tossed a four-hitter Thursday to lead Polk County to a 5-1 victory over East Henderson in junior varsity baseball action in Flat Rock.
Edwards struck out three and walked two in his six innings of work.
All of the game’s scoring came in the third inning as Polk fashioned a five-run rally in the top of the frame and East Henderson answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Edwards started the Polk surge with a one-out single, followed by a walk to Karson Scruggs. With two outs, Mason Beiler and Dustin Shook delivered back-to-back singles for the first two Wolverine runs of the inning.
Daylon Bradley was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Nick Stribling was also hit to force in one run. An East Henderson error and Karlen McEntyre’s infield single scored the final two runs of the inning.
Shook finished 2-for-2 and Scruggs was 2-for-3 to lead Polk County, with McEntyre, Edwards and Beiler adding base hits.
