
East Henderson pushed across a run in the third inning Thursday to take a 1-0 victory over Polk County in junior varsity baseball action in Flat Rock.
The Eagles improved to 7-5 with the win. The Wolverines dropped to 3-7.
East Henderson took advantage of a walk, two infield grounders that advanced the runner to third and a single to score its run.
Polk County had its best chance to score in the second inning, loading the bases with two outs. But East Henderson freshman pitcher Tristen Sumner, who allowed just two hits and struck out 13, got the final out to end the inning.
Bryson Jones and Peyton Hoots had Polk’s two hits.
Piercen Edwards took the loss, allowing just five hits and striking out three in pitching all five innings.
