East Henderson scored three runs in the second inning and held off a late Polk County rally for a 5-4 victory in Wednesday’s non-conference JV baseball game in Flat Rock.
The Eagles (6-8) took an early 1-0 lead, but Polk County answered with three runs in the second inning to take a 3-1 edge. Drew Young, Simms Harris and Davis Holbert had RBI singles in the rally.
East Henderson answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 3-3, then scored twice in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead.

Polk County pulled within 5-4 in the fourth when Asher Mullet singled home Young, but the Wolverines couldn’t push across the tying run.
Young led Polk County at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mullet, Brady Carroll, Acer Eadus, Harris and Holbert each had one hit. Harris drove in a run and Carroll doubled.
Zayne McFalls pitched two innings for Polk County, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Harris pitched three innings of relief, allowing no earned runs on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.
Polk County (2-11) travels to East Rutherford on Thursday.
