Polk Middle’s season came to an end Wednesday with a 14-8 loss to Macon Middle in the first round of the Blue Ridge Conference Tournament.
The Wolverines rallied late but couldn’t overcome an early deficit against the Panthers, who scored five runs in the first inning and added six more in the third to build an 11-0 lead.
Polk Middle mounted a comeback attempt with four runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh, but Macon answered with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to maintain control.

Callaway Cameron led Polk’s offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Carter Wood went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Oakley McDowell added two hits and two RBI.
Wesley Turner drove in two runs, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate. Lawson Yoder and Joshua Odel each added hits.
Macon Middle collected 16 hits in the victory. Grey Ward, Nolan Estes and Easton Green each had multiple hits for the Mustangs.
Polk Middle finished the season 6-9, while Macon Middle improved to 10-3.
